I am stuck with a Marlin XL7 bolt action rifle that has the ejector stuck in the down position. I disassembled the bolt down to the the bolt head and the ejector is held in place by a small crosspin.. I am not able to remove the pin for some reason..(bent up 2 small diameter punches trying). The Marlin model 1894, chambered in .44mag, will accept all factory .44 magnum ammunition. I recommend jacketed or semi-jacketed ammo to prevent lead from fouling the barrel.

One of the best features of the XL7 is the trigger. Called the Pro-Fire Trigger by Marlin, it is user adjustable for pull weight, and releases crisply with no hint of creep or overtravel. It is a fine trigger. The Marlin uses pressure points, which doesn't help much in some field shooting or esp. if you use a bipod. Also, I am a tang safety man & also like detachable mags. I had zero issues adj. the Ruger or Marlin trigger. The only issue I have with the Ruger is the trigger guard.

I've got a used Marlin Model 60 I picked up a few months back and after thoroughly cleaning the darn thing, I still can't get the trigger pull to be under what seems like at least 10lbs. The weight of the gun isn't enough to pull the trigger. It's not a smooth thing, either, it's very, very abrupt, almost like it feels like it's going to break.
